Died in Kiantone March 18th, 1883, Mrs. Roxey Martin, relict of William Martin, aged 86 years, 8 months and 11 days. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Levi Pier, and was born in Cooperstown, Oswego county[sic, Otsego county], N.Y. She came to this county with her parents in 1814. She and Capt. William Martin were married in 1815 and settled on the farm where she died and near which his father first located. Here she resided during the long period of sixty-eight years. She leaves seven children, Isaac, Abram, Lorenzo, Sally Ann Northrop, Dewey, Adaline and George L. The funeral services were held at the late residence in Kiantone Tuesday and were largely attended. All the children except Dewey Martin, who resides in New Zealand, were present. Messrs. A. G. Martin, E. W. Martin, A. A. Martin, Geo B. Martin, W. Northrop and W. A. Frank were the bearers. Rev. O. B. Clark of Jamestown conducted the services and the remains were interred in the Stillwater cemetery.
