ANACONDA — Adelaide Rose Beardslee died Monday. She went to be with the Lord.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1915, in Dillon, to Henry and Margaret (Deatsch) Birrer. She spent her early life on a ranch between Lima and Dell in Beaverhead County, attending Grosman, a one-room country school. She graduated from high school in Lima in 1935. On March 16, 1937, she married Howard Beardslee. They lived in Lima for the next 15 years before moving to Pocatello, Idaho, where Howard was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad.

Upon returning to Montana in 1955, they settled in Anaconda where they raised their five children. Adelaide was a member of the Catholic Church, the Neighbors of Woodcraft, and the Woodmen of America. She was a Boy Scout leader while her sons were young. She worked for the Anaconda school system for numerous years, the Anaconda thrift center and was involved in numerous organizations around the community. She enjoyed visits from friends and loved spending time in her garden.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Howard; son, Elvin ‘Skip'; brothers, Clarus, Clifford and Herschel; and sisters, Rita Mecham and Dorothy Houston.

Adelaide is survived by sons and wives, Arlie and Darielle, Anaconda, Barry and Brenda, Robert and Debi, Helena; daughter and son-in-law, Garnet and Bill Kinney, Missoula; daughter-in-law, Barbara Beardslee, Anaconda; brothers and spouses, Emmett and Janice, Bozeman, and Ted and Pat, Portland, Ore.; sisters Rachel Farrington, California, and Ruby Sheppard, Polson; brother-in-law and wife Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beardslee of Butte; eight grandchildren; six and one-half great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Sister Herman Tschida.

A memorial Mass will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. No wake or visitation will be held. Cremation has taken place and the ashes will be buried beside her husband in the Lima Cemetery.
