"Master Sergeant Loyd H. McGhee died on February 6, 1943 at the Morrison Army Air Base Hospital in Palm Beach, Florida after a brief illness. According to his military headstone application, he was serving with the 23rd Fighter Squadron which had moved to Morrison Field on May 27, 1942, where it converted to the P-47 Thunderbolts in June 1943.
Funeral services were held for MSgt. McGhee at the Mizell-Simon Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach, Florida with full military honors." From Fold3.
