Gladys May Privette, born April 11, 1913 in Illinois, went to be with her Lord on May 16, 2007. The last child of James and Almeda Yates, Gladys, and her family traveled to Oklahoma by train in 1916. They settled on a farm east of Guthrie, Okla. Gladys attended school at the two room Irving School, Guthrie High School, and graduated from Meridian High School. She married Andrew Eugene 'Gene' Privette on December 11, 1937, and started a family. A homemaker, Gladys was active in several clubs including the Happy Days Club, Home Extension Clubs, and Church circles. She remained active at West Guthrie United Methodist Church until her death. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; sonin-law, Cleo Jacks; a granddaughter, two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Harley Privette and his wife Rosalie of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Carolyn Jacks of Guthrie; son, Gerald Privette and his wife Joy of Winnsboro, TX; daughter, Meda Beall and her husband Stephen of Choctaw, OK; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2007 at West Guthrie United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. The family will greet friends Friday from 6-8 PM at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
