She was born July 6, 1901, in Brillion, daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Keune) Hoops. At the age of 18 she came to Black Creek. She lived in Michigan for one year and lived most of her life in Black Creek. In 1922 she married Lee Barth in Michigan. She and her husband operated the Black Creek Feed Mill for many years. Elsie was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Chruch.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. LaVern Dryden and Lucille and Jerome Hein of Black Creek; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leslie and Gladys Barth, Port Charlotte, FL; Lloyd Barth, Perry, GA; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter Lila Mae; a sister, Frieda Tesch; and a son-in-law, Robert Dryden.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Black Creek. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park.
