Roelse, Merritt

Merritt Roelse was born on December 23, 1931 to the late John and Nellie Roelse and passed away on December 19, 2015 at the age of 83. He attended elementary school in Cedar Grove and Central High School in Sheboygan.

On August 30, 1952 Merritt was united in marriage with the late Marie Dhein at St. Wendel Parish in Cleveland, WI. During his working years he was employed by Braun-Herr Hardware Co., Omar Bakery, Lake to Lake Dairy Co-op, and Rodewald Buick. He volunteered at St. Nicholas Hospital. Merritt enjoyed going up north, hunting, and fishing with his sons and grandsons, making Christmas candy, vacationing, and playing cards every Tuesday night with the Zastrows.

Merritt is survived by his children, Susan (Steve) Jaberg, Patty Daun, Richard (Julie), William (Lori), and Mark; grandchildren, Maria (Lance) Dai, Eric (Amy) Daun, Brandon Daun, Jacob (Rachel) Roelse, Nicholas Roelse, Michael Rudebeck, Brittany Rudebeck, Andrew Roelse, Nathan Roelse, Meghan Roelse, and Danielle Roelse; great-grandchildren, Jillian and Genevieve Dai and Annabelle, Harper, and Pierce Daun; and sisters-in-law, Patsy (Kenny) Zastrow, Irene Dhein, Mildred Dhein, Marlene Dhein, and Eileen Dhein. Merritt is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Melvin and Marvin; and grandson, Matthew Roelse.

Burial will be held the following day at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
