WILLIAM KALK

William Kalk, 77, of Cleveland, died at St. Nicholas Hospital today after a long illness.

He was born Nov. 11, 1881, in Stettin, Germany, the son of the late Carl and Wilhelmina Steindam Kalk. At the age of one he came to the United States with his family and settled in Illinois. Later they moved to Centerville, where the family operated a farm.

On June 27, 1903, he married Emma Mahler and they lived in Manitowoc until 1913, when they returned to the homestead farm in Centerville.

He also was employed by the Lakeshore Farms.
Mrs. Kalk died in December, 1951, and in 1952 he married Mrs. Anna Beck of Sheboygan. She died in 1954. Since then he lived with his only daughter, Mrs. Gottlieb (Viola) Herman in Cleveland.

He was a member of the St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Cleveland and the South Side Golden Age Club of Sheboygan.

Besides his daughter, he is survived by five sons, Karl, Manitowoc, Paul, Sheboygan, George, Cleveland, Clarence, Milwaukee, William Jr., Barton; 13 grandchildren; 23 grandchildren, two brothers, Albert, Sheboygan; and
Henry, Haven, and one sister, Mrs. Leo Schroeder, Manitowoc.

He was preceded in death by four sisters.

Funeral services are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland, with the Rev. S. G. Kugler of the Town of Liberty officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at Cleveland.
Friends may call at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapels in Cleveland from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from noon until the time of services.
