Margaret T. Styles was born on 19 May 1876 in Baltinglass, County Wicklow Ireland to Edward Styles and Margaret Kavanagh. She had seven older siblings Robert, Anne, James, Catherine, William, Edward, and Mary, and one younger sibling Thomas Joseph. She immigrated to the USA with her family on 12 Nov 1888 and lived in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York. Margaret worked as a trained nurse at "The Pines" Home for Mental and Nervous Invalids in Auburn and Willard State Hospital in Ovid, New York before marrying golf professional Alfred John Ward. Margaret was much loved by her only child James Joseph Ward, who was just 15 years old at the time of her passing.
