Robert’s father, Joe, a retired Army Command Sergeant Major, brought the family to live in many states including: Alaska, Louisiana and Texas. In 1973 Robert graduated from Killeen High School in Killeen, Texas. After high school he attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas, focusing on theater arts and photography. Robert had an interesting and varied career life that culminated in a successful career in website development. He worked many years at Novell, in Provo, Utah as a web designer and most currently at WireStone in Boise. Robert treasured his work family at WireStone, where even his dog, Rudy, was welcome and enjoyed daily walks along the Boise River.
Robert’s true love in life was his beautiful wife Kallee. They were married and sealed for time and eternity on September 20th, 1997, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Robert and Kallee enjoyed traveling, with some of their favorite places being Hawaii, the California coast, and Alaska. Robert’s love for people was reflected in his habit of inviting friends and family over for dinner and an evening of fun. Robert was a fabulous cook and had a natural talent for creating delicious meals always leaving guests hungry for more.
Robert’s warm heart and passion for life could be seen in his love of the arts. He had an ear for music, an eye for photography, and a skillful hand for theater set design. He truly enjoyed sharing his knowledge of music, especially when he got the chance to play his collection of vinyl albums with friends.
Robert was a friend to everyone. He was known for his kindness, good humor, and soft heart. He was a gentle man who never raised his voice. Robert was truly a renaissance man, with an amazing range of interests and knowledge, from quantum physics to an exotic spice. Always on a quest for knowledge, he was a well read man and a walking encyclopedia. If you had a question, Robert likely knew the answer. You didn’t want to play a game of Trivia with Robert, unless you didn’t mind losing.
Robert was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served enthusiastically in many church callings. He was a dedicated priesthood holder and cherished the privilege of temple service.
Robert is survived by his wife Kallee; parents, Joe and Petra Rodriguez, Salinas, Calif.; sister, Esther (Ralph) Widmar, Monterey, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews, in the Widmar, Shipp, Harvey, and Jensen families. Robert was preceded in death by his son, Jordan Hodges.
