Jeanne Rita (nee Bender) Nerim was born on March 26th 1928 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born to Marie S. and Theodore A. Bender as the first of two daughters. During childhood young Jeanne and her younger sister Dorothy, aka Dottie (born May 31, 1932), felt the severe effects of the Great Depression. They were like most Americans at the time, economically disadvantaged. Thankfully life wouldn't always be that way.

Jeanne attended old Kenwood High School and graduated a year early in 1944. She immediately was trained as a registered nurse at old St. Joseph's Hospital on Caroline Street in downtown Baltimore MD funded by a U.S. Army war program. As fate would have it, she met her husband to be, Kenneth Nerim, at the hospital in 1946. He happened to meet her on a visit to St. Joe's while Jeanne was nursing her future father-in-law back to health from an appendectomy. After an on and off then back on relationship the couple became engaged.

Jeanne married Kenneth Ira Nerim at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Fullerton on December 29, 1951. The marriage produced 4 children, Kenneth Jr., Linda, Jeffery & Michael. Her mostly on but sometimes off nursing career started in 1946 at St. Joseph's and continued sporadically until 1962 when the family relocated north to Canada. Ken's employer had transferred him to Toronto, Ontario. As Ken helped head up his employer's acquisition and re-organization of Club House Foods Jeanne took a holiday from the medical profession and became a full time stay at home Mom. The family moved back to the U.S. late in 1963. Soon Jeanne was back working part-time at St. Joesph's new hospital located in Towson MD which opened in 1965.

In 1969 the family would move from their North Baltimore residence to a newly built home in Sykesville, MD. There she performed nursing in the Head Start Program making house calls providing medical care to needy families living in Carroll County MD. In 1970 she left Head Start to begin working the 11 PM - 7 AM shift as a full time RN at Baltimore County General Hospital's satellite unit. This was during the time construction of the new hospital occurred. She eventually would work in the new facility and be promoted to overnight charge nurse, running the nursing staff on as many as three floors per shift. In 1982 she became a cancer survivor and passed on her positive experience to those oncological patients she met professionally. Her career continued until she retired from BCGH (now Northwest Hospital) in 1985. She finished her career as a well respected RN in the medical community with many friends.

She eventually had three grandchildren, Jeremy Ryan Robinson (1976-2014), Michael Scott Phillips (1986) and Kristen Elizabeth Nerim (1989). She also had the pleasure of welcoming a great grandson, Joshua Robinson (2011) into the family.

Jeanne and Ken enjoyed the best years of their lives during the 1980s and 1990s embarking on numerous cruise ship voyages and other trips abroad to Norway, France, Holland, Germany, Spain and Italy to mention a few. In 1996 the couple moved to a pleasant condominium in Sparks MD. Jeanne remained faithfully married to her beloved husband, Ken, for over 50 years until his passing from this life on October 9. 2002. In 2006 Jeanne moved south to Lee County, FL where two of her four children resided. On September 26, 2017 she passed away at the Brookdale Hospice in Cape Coral, FL. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and others whose lives she made better by just being there. Jeanne Rita Nerim was 89 years old.
