Bernard Kenneth Capper, son of Fern Bess (Jones) Capper and David Alonzo Capper, was born on November 22, 1933 at Knoxville, Iowa. Bernie attended school in Knoxville. He later moved to Oklahoma where he was a cross-country truck driver for several years. In 1969, he moved to Omaha, NE and worked at different companies including National ByProducts, Winchell's Donuts, Laidlaw Transit and finally as a bus driver for Lewis Central Schools.

On June 1, 1990, Bernie and Carmon Mable (McConkey) Kyle were married in Glenwood, Iowa. They made their home in Omaha before moving to Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1993. Bernie and Carmon were members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs. Bernie's enjoyments included camping, classic car models, his dogs, and collecting Indian dolls.

Bernie and Carmon had been married nearly 17 years when Bernie died at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs on April 29, 2007. He had attained the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother James Arthur Capper, Gus Canidy Capper who died at 7 years old, and John Alfred Capper and his wife Mary; sister Shirley Clark; sisters-in-law Emily Capper, Mary Capper, and Lois Capper.

Bernie is survived by his wife Carmon and her children, Marilyn, Frederick and Dennis and was Grandpa Bernie to eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; step-daughter Cindy; sister Betty; brothers Earl, Pearl and Jack; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Interment in Malvern Cemetery.
