son of Thomas Ward Custer and Rachel Minerd Behm Kearnes. Husband of Addie Viola Benn, married Feb. 11, 1892 in Bowling Green, OH. Addie was the daughter of William H. Benn and Martha Brown Benn.

Thomas C. Custer's mother is Rachael (Minerd) Behme Kearns. She first married Nathaniel Arthur Behme and had two children with him, then divorced him. She married a gentleman named Kearns, and they moved to the state of Washington when she died.
