Delzie M. Cheek, 100, of Scottsville, Va. and formerly of New Jersey, died peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2012, in Charlottesville, Va. Mrs. Cheek born in Belmar, NJ in 1911. She was the loving wife of the late Dale Cheek. She was a former, longtime resident of Spring Lake, NJ. She and her husband had a successful restaurant, "Dales", in Spring Lake. She graduated from Rutgers Law School in 1934.
She is survived by her children, Charles Cheek and wife, Annetta of Falls Church, Va., James Cheek of Spring Lake Heights, and Anne Cheek Bruff and husband, Clyde of Oakland, Calif.; her grandchildren, Judd Bruff of Oakland, Julie Anne Bruff of Los Angeles, Calif., and Joseph Cheek of Brussels, Belgium; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening, May 3, 2012 at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4 at St. George's Catholic Church in Scottsville with the Reverend Dennis McAuliffe as the Celebrant.
