Phyllis M. Pokorsky, age 84, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, died on Thursday morning, Nov. 5, 2009, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital, Brookfield, Wis.

She was born on July 1, 1925, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Edwin A. and Clara (Skatrud) Knutson. Phyllis was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1943. On Feb. 20, 1949, she married James F. Pokorsky in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2004. Phyllis was a member of First Lutheran Church and a long-time member of the choir.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Anthony Fricano, Brookfield; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Thomas and Michele Pokorsky, Port Washington; Rev. Fr. Jerry Pokorsky, Annandale, Va.; six grandchildren: Jennifer Smith and her husband, Jeffery, Maryland; Lt. Commander James Pokorsky and his wife, Monica, Florida; William Pokorsky and his wife, Wendy, Grafton, Wis.; Nicholas Fricano and his wife, Kelly, Whitefish Bay; Joseph Fricano and his wife, Kathryn, Milwaukee; Mary Fricano, Shorewood; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob and Samuel Smith, Elaina Pokorsky, Thomas Pokorsky, Maxwell and Charles Fricano, Vincent Fricano; and a sister-in-law: Kathryn Riesterer, Valders. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a son: Michael Pokorsky in 1992, a brother: Alton Knutson; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Lawrence Kloster, Ellen Schroeder, and Myrtle and Harold Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Ronald Harswick with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th St., Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Memorials would be appreciated to First Lutheran Church, 521 N. 8th St., Manitowoc, or St. Anne's Salvadorian Campus, 3800 N. 92nd St., Milwaukee Wis. 53222.
