Ralph J. Pekulik, age 83, of 1701 Cherry Road, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, Nov. 19, 2010, at Harbor House on Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc.

Ralph was born on March 6, 1927, in Manitowoc to the late Frank and Anna (Sobiesvzyk) Pekulik. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. After high school, Ralph joined the U.S. Army and served from 1945 until 1947 in Panama. He then married Cora Lee Hicks and she preceded him in death. Ralph married Marianne Kohlmeyer Wilda on Jan. 15, 1985, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He started his employment with Jagemann Stamping Co. of Manitowoc as its first employee in January of 1947 and was employed there for 47 years, retiring on June 2, 1993, as plant superintendent. Ralph enjoyed raising and racing pigeons and was the recipient of first place award of the 315 Miles Fox River Valley Concourse Event. Ralph also enjoyed many weekends at the cabin in Sand Bay. He was also a member of the Lakeshore Humane Society and of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include his wife: Marianne, Manitowoc; one stepdaughter: Sue Wilda, Sheboygan; one stepson: Scott T. Wilda, Green Bay; and two sisters and one brother-in-law: Sally Walters, Manitowoc; and Mary and Pete Philipps, Wausaukee. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one brother: Donald Pekulik; two sisters: Leona and Clancey Schepper; and two brothers-in-law: Florence Kraemer and Harry Walters.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremated remains will follow at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family wishes to thank Harbor House for the kind and compassionate care given to Ralph.

Ralph was a wonderful husband and stepfather, who had a love for his pet dogs and cats, especially his pet Siberian husky, Nikki, and his long-haired domestic cat named Teddy.

Memorials may be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society Inc.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
