Elmer J. Pech, 73, of 2313A Washington Street, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, Oct. 28, at the family residence.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Harold Berryman and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Pech was born June 3, 1911, at Kellnersville, Wisconsin, son of the late John and Emma Popelar Pech. He moved to Manitowoc as a young man where he married the former Helen Sitkawitz at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim, on Oct. 2, 1935. Prior to retirement he owned and operated with his wife, Helen, Pech’s Food Market for 30 years. Mr. Pech served as an usher at St. Mary Parish, was a member of St. Mary Men’s Club and a basketball coach at St. Mary’s for 20 years. Mr. Pech was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Robert Senglaub and Betty and Dick Andrastek of Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Mary Pech of Tulare, California, and Don and May Husar of Manitowoc; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marge and Alvin Baumann of DePere, and Mrs. Leonard Shimek and Laraine and Everett Belongia of Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Jeff and Ann Senglaub, Jill Senglab, and Mike and Mark Andrastek; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ray Pech of Arizona. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. by members of the Knights of Columbus, relatives and friends.
