Naomi “Jean” Helkey, 93 of Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. Jean was born April 27, 1920 in Pearl, IL, a daughter of Weaver and Ocie Waggoner Wheeler. She married Roger “Frank” Farrington June 21, 1941 in Streator, IL and he preceded her in death. She later married Glenn Helkey in 1975 and he preceded her in death in 1977.
Jean graduated from New Fashion Beauty College in Peoria, IL. She moved to Pittsfield in 1963 and operated a beauty shop for nearly fifty years keeping her license current and officially retiring in 2009. She made a lot of friends during her many years of operating her shop.
She is survived by a son, James Farrington of Glen Ellyn, IL; two grandchildren, Megan Christine and Travis James Farrington and a sister, Helen Nevius of Kampsville, IL. She was preceded in death by a son Roger Farrington in 1992 and her husbands’.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl.
Memorials are suggested to be made to the Greenpond Cemetery.
