Ana Maria, 58, born Sept. 29, 1952, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and returned to her Heavenly Father on August 22, 2011. Ana Maria was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and came to the United States when she was three years old. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area until 1984 when she moved to Orem, Utah, with her husband and three children. There, she attended BYU and she received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. She received a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University in 2005. She worked as an Elementary Instructor for many years in the Jordan and Nebo School Districts. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Ana Maria enjoyed music and playing the guitar but was happiest when listening to her husband playing the guitar. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and writing. She loved being a mother and grandmother and always cherished her family time. Her love extended to animals and over the years she had many furry friends of all kinds. Ana Maria touched many lives, always gave of herself, and unselfishly made time for others with a smile on her face. She is survived by her husband, Barry, the love of her life of 40 years; Children; Stefan, Shannon, and Melissa; Grandchildren, Sierra, Elise, Lauren and Ryker; her mother Rosa; her siblings Rodrigo, Yvonne, Victor and Vincent; her niece and nephews; Alanna, Spencer and Will, and her cherished guinea pig, Bella. Ana Maria will be profoundly missed. She was an angel on earth. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Ana Maria's name to the Post-Polio Health International Research Fund at 4207 Lindell Blvd., #110, St. Louis, MO 63108-2930.
