Died: July 2, 2013
Margaret Stone "Tony" Lupton McDonald, 92, of Winchester, Virginia died July 2, 2013 in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. McDonald was born May 15, 1921 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of Victoria Viola Noel Lupton and Daniel Walker Lupton.

She married Carlyle "Mac" McDonald in 1944. Rev. McDonald died November 24, 2012.
Surviving are their children David Lupton McDonald of Fresno, California; Mary Victoria McDonald of Conway, Arkansas; and Bruce Scott McDonald and his wife Lori of Sanibel Island, Florida; grandchildren Michelle Anne McDonald and Blake Gillett McDonald, great-grandson Aden Gillett Salinas, and great-granddaughter Coraline Elise Bates, all of Fresno, California. A son, William Carlyle McDonald died in childhood. Three sisters, Dorothy Lupton Seabright, Virginia Lupton Riley, and Martha Walker Lupton Sheetz, predeceased her.
Tony also leaves a host of loving and devoted nieces and nephews, who remember fondly her radiant smile and gracious hospitality, and her enthusiasm for celebrations of all kinds.
Tony was a birth-right Quaker, and grew up in Hopewell Friends Meeting. When she married, she joined the Presbyterian Church. She served the church in myriad ways, as helpmate to her husband over his long career, including ministries in VA, NC, SC and WV. She always considered Winchester her home, and after retirement she and Mac lived for many years in the home they built on Middle Road, before moving to Westminster-Canterbury, where they enjoyed a community of friends and loving caregivers.
Tony was a member of the Handley High School class of 1938 and graduated from the George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania. Schoolmates knew her as "Martone." She worked as a teller at the Union Bank in Winchester in the 1940s, and at banks elsewhere in later years. As her children were growing up, she was active as a school volunteer and Scout leader. She was a long-time member of the Women's Civic League of Winchester.

The memorial service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Chapel at Westminster-Canterbury, 300 Westminster Canterbury Dr., Winchester, at 10:30 am, with the Reverend Elizabeth Lewis officiating. Committal will be at Hopewell Friends Meeting graveyard, 604 Hopewell Road, Clearbrook, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Hopewell Graveyard Fund, c/o James T. Riley, Treasurer, 1321 Vanceright Circle, Winchester, VA 22601, or to the Westminster-Canterbury Fellowship Fund, 300 Westminster-Canterbury Drive, Winchester, VA 22603.
