Joseph Lutzenberger, age 89, of Island Lake Road, Manistique, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday evening, April 18, 2013, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility, in Manistique.
Joe was born April 27, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph Peter and Helen (Kitze) Lutzenberger. He graduated from high school in Milwaukee.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving in the Pacific.
On March 2, 1985, Joe married the former Cora Behrens in the Salem Lutheran Church in Escanaba, Michigan. Joe retired from Harnischfeger after many years as a company executive/manager. He thoroughly enjoyed big game hunting and traveling around the world.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Cora Lutzenberger of Manistique; two sons, Bruce (Judith) Behrens of Manistique and Craig Behrens of California; two granddaughters, Kristina Behrens and Elizabeth Elwart; one sister-in-law, Shirley Lutzenberger and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Violet and siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility Chapel, Manistique, Michigan.
