Roy Barr was born January 16, 1915 in Montgomery County, Iowa to Carl and Laura (Given) Barr. He died June 10, 1998 at his residence.
He was reared in Montgomery County and graduated from the Elliott High School in 1932. He married Phyllis Embree in 1940, and they lived and farmed in Pilot Grove Township in Montgomery County. He was a member of the Pilot Grove Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1992, sister, Helen Taylor, and brother Neal Barr and Clyde Barr.
He is survived by sons Bryce Barr and wife Gwen of Omaha, Nebraska and Richard Barr and wife Joan of Villisca, Iowa. Also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also brother Floyd Barr of Villisca, Iowa and Berniece Guffey of Nodaway, Iowa.
