My great grandmother Josie P. (Rodgers) Harris was born on May 3, 1885 in Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee to John Jack and Violet Luella (Cronk) Rodgers. She was the oldest of 8 children. She had 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Josie married John Bird Young Harris on March 22, 1904 in Cookeville, Tennessee. They were blessed with 3 sons; Ernest Dewey, Jack Bernest and Ernal Ray Harris. John and Josie built their home in the early 1940's in the Shipley community. John was a farmer and Josie was a homemaker who also took in laundry from neighbors to help support the family.
