COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Samuel Young Sliger, 95, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 2, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Fri., Sept. 1, at the funeral home.
Mr. Sliger died on Wed., Aug. 30, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 17, 1905, in Putnam County to the late James Neal and Mary Harris Sliger. Mr. Sliger was a retired machinist with Ford Motor Company. He was a resident of Cedar Hills Retirement Center and loved bingo, fishing and gardening.
His family includes three sons and two daughtersinlaw,
Cecil and Beulah Sliger of South Lyon, Mich., Jim Sliger of Crescent City, Fla., and Jerry and JoAnn Sliger of Novi, Mich.; two stepsons and stepdaughtersinlaw, Charles and Betty Singer of St. Clair, Mich., and Edward and Barbara Singer of Columbus, Ohio; a brother and sisterinlaw, Luther and Lorene Sliger of Cookeville; a sister, Beulah Vickers; two grandsons, Dean and Michael Sliger; two granddaughters and a grandsoninlaw, Auda and
Jacob Brabbs, and Jennifer Sliger; a greatgrandson,
Kaleb Brabbs; and three stepgrandchildren, Eric, Keith
and Lisa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Auda Martin Sliger and Maureen Singer Sliger.
